Dr. Mary Jean G. Bulatao is the new Director of the Nagoya University Asian Satellite Campus-Philippines
Dr. Mary Jean Garsuta-Bulatao has been appointed as the new Director and Designated Associate Professor of the Nagoya University Asian Satellite Campus-Philippines (NUASC-PH) based at the University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB) campus, College, Laguna, in the Philippines. Dr.Bulatao started her tour of duty on 1 January 2024. She took over from Dr. Editha C. Cedicol, Designated Professor, who served the NUASC-PH from its inception and launching in 2015 until her retirement after the transition period from January to March 2024.

Under the umbrella of the Tokai Higher Education and Research System (THERS), Dr. Bulatao will serve not only as Director and Designated Associate Professor to manage the operations of the satellite campus in the Philippines but also to monitor the study programs of the doctoral students under the NU Transnational Doctoral Programs for Leading Professionals in Asian Countries. Dr. Bulatao will also work as local adviser of ASCI students in the field of animal science at the NU Graduate School of Bioagricultural Sciences (GSBS) as the need arises.
Dr. Bulatao is a retired faculty member of the Agricultural Systems Institute (ASI) of the College of Agriculture and Food Science (CAFS) at UPLB. She finished her PhD in Animal Science with major in Animal Production in 2003 under the Joint Japan-World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program. She was a grantee of several fellowships such as the Fulbright Visiting Researcher at Texas A & M, U.S.A in 2006-2007, the Netherlands Fellowship Grant at Wageningen University in 2000, and the Australian AIDAB Fellowship at the University of Queensland, Australia in 1999-2000. She received the Outstanding Professional in Animal Science Award- Extension given by the Philippine Society of Animal Science in 2015. She was a two-time awardee of the One UP Faculty Award in 2016-2019 and 2019-2021. Before her stint at NUASC-PH, she worked as Associate Professor of ASI at CAFS, UPLB.
