Mongolia Satellite Campus webinar introduces the Transnational Doctoral Programs for Leading Professionals in Asian Countries

The Asian Satellite Campuses Institute organized a webinar entitled Leading the way: The Transnational Doctoral Programs for Leading Professionals in Asian Countries at its Mongolia satellite campus on 2^nd March 2021. President Matsuo Seiichi welcomed the guests and guided them through various educational and research projects that Nagoya University has been implementing in Mongolia.
 
Present in the webinar were the distinguished guests from the Ministry of Education and Science of Mongolia, Embassy of Japan in Mongolia, and the National University of Mongolia and representatives from partner organizations. The webinar was held successfully with the more than 100 professionals, who work for the government of Mongolia in the fields of law, environment, medicine, education, and psychology.
 
His Excellency Mr. Enkh-Amgalan Luvsantseren, the Minister of Education and Science of Mongolia stressed the critical role of the transnational doctoral program in his guest speech, stating that the transnational doctoral program has helped to strengthen and improve the professional capacities of civil servants in Mongolia equipping them with advanced knowledge and research skills. Meanwhile His Excellency Ambassador Kobayashi Hiroyuki said in his speech that he is “confident that those Mongolians who have already obtained their doctoral degrees, who are currently doing their research works under this doctoral program and those who will join the doctoral program will be invaluable assets of the country.” Ambassador Hiroyuki also said that he expects “Nagoya University will continue to play a leading role in the development of academic cooperation between our two countries.” Professor Ochirkhuyag, the President of the National University of Mongolia, praised the doctoral program as one of the best-practices in doctoral studies and highlighted the effective academic cooperation between the two universities.
 
Professor Isoda Fumio, the Director of the ASCI, introduced the doctoral program and how it is being implemented in Asian countries. From 2014-2021, the Mongolia Satellite Campus admitted 16 doctoral students in four different fields namely law, education, medicine, and the environment, which are all available at Nagoya University.. Three doctoral students already have completed the program and obtained their doctoral degrees without leaving their career paths.  These students participated in the Transnational Doctoral Program for Leading Professionals in Asian Countries and are working as professionals for the Mongolian government. and are now  
 
During the webinar, Deans and Professors of the four graduate schools introduced the doctoral programs taking place in their respective graduate schools. Professor Dai Yokomizo and Ms. Saori Okuda, a lecturer at the Graduate School of Law, presented the profile of their department and gave a brief introduction on  admissions, eligibility requirements, and the deadline for filing applications for their program in 2021. Professor Yasuhiko Nishizawa, Dean of the Graduate School of Environmental Studies and Designated Associate Professor Shinsuke Tomita followed by describing their program. Professor Jiro Takai, Dean of the Graduate School of Education and Human Development, introduced their doctoral program requirements and put forward his expectations to all the participants. Finally, Professor Akira Yamauchi, Vice Director of the ASCI, delivered the closing remarks and thanked everyone for their participation.
