2021 Online Entrance Ceremony for new students in Cambodia
Phnom Penh - On 12 October 2021, ASCI Cambodia Satellite Campus held the Online Entrance Ceremony for two new PhD students who have been successfully admitted to the Graduate School of Bio-agricultural Sciences of Nagoya University. Both are currently lecturers at the Royal University of Agriculture - Mr. PHEAP Sambo teaches at the faculty of agronomy and Mr. SENG Ravor teaches at the faculty of Rubber Sciences.
The ceremony started with the opening remarks by Prof. FUJIMAKI Akira, Vice President of in charge of education and overseas students, Nagoya University. He stressed the importance and uniqueness of the program and long-term relationship between Nagoya University and universities in Cambodia.
H.E. Mr. MIKAMI Masahiro, Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Japan to Cambodia, shared his congratulatory remarks through the video message. HE Ambassador mentioned that Nagoya University is one of the finest universities in Japan. He hopes that through learning experiences at Nagoya University, the new students will make their careers colorful and successful in the future. He believes that the knowledge and expertise acquired will further contribute to the development of Cambodia and strengthen the relationship between the two countries. Ms. KAMEI Haruko, Chief Representative of JICA Cambodia Office, also kindly provided a congratulatory video message to the newly enrolled students. She stressed the important role JDS scholarship programs supported by JICA on human resources development in Cambodia and many of whom are enrolled in Nagoya University.
From Cambodia side, the ceremony was joined by rectors of collaborating universities, namely Dr. NGO Bunthan, Rector of Royal University of Agriculture, Dr. LUY Channa, Rector of Royal University of Law and Economics, and Dr. CHET Chealy, Rector of Royal University of Phnom Penh. The three top Cambodian universities have long history of close relationship with the Graduate School of Bio-agricultural Sciences, Graduate School of Law, and Graduate School of International Development, respectively. The three rectors appreciated the close relationship extended by Nagoya University and hope to bring it to the next level.
Finally, the ceremony was concluded by Prof. YAMAUCHI Akira, Director of the Asian Satellite Campuses Institute. He appreciates the supports extended by collaborating universities. He also expressed his determination to provide the best quality education possible to the newly enrolled students and wishes to do their best in the new academic journey.
