Message from the Head of the Philippines Satellite Campus

Warm greetings! Nagoya University’s Asian Satellite Campus in the Philppines is based at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) which has been mandated to implement the Transnational Doctoral Programs for Leading Professionals in Asian Countries. Nagoya University, through its Asian Satellite Campus at UPLB, offers two areas in which to conduct doctoral level studies: Bioagricultural Sciences, and International Development. The program caters mainly to Filipino mid to senior level government officials who have already completed a master’s degree and wish to earn a doctoral degree. Because of the important roles and responsibilities students are tasked with in their everyday work lives, they can not leave their posts for a continuous period of three years to pursue doctoral studies in Japan. Therefore, the Asian Satellite Campus Institute, which is headqurtered at Nagoya University’s main campus in Japan, allows students to complete their doctoral studies at home in the Phillipines.   Being situated in one of the best agricultural universities in the region, Nagoya University and the Asian Satellite Campus Institute look forward to effectively pursuing more collaborative projects with UPLB which would help boost internationalization efforts of both universities.
